SHEPPEY FM’S TRAINING

Sheppey FM’s fully equipped training suite is available for schools, colleges, groups and individuals to attend our media training courses and gain accredited qualifications.

Our experienced tutors are fully DBS checked and able to instruct in all aspects of broadcasting from the technical side of running the studio equipment to producing a live ‘on-air’ performance. There are opportunities to progress to programming, production techniques and journalism. We have something for everyone and can accommodate all ages and abilities. Due to high demand we focus our attention and support on those that are disadvantaged or have additional needs and have ensured that all of our facilities are wheelchair accessible.

We are nominated as an ‘Inspiring Youth Project Award’by the British Youth Council and also a registered ‘Arts Award’ Centre and offer our community the opportunities to participate in our exciting training courses. As part of their course-work evidence students complete their own portfolios and on completion of their course receive a CD recording of their ‘live’ on-air show, as broadcast on Sheppey FM.

We work closely with Canterbury College ‘Swale Campus’ and ‘Oasis Academy’ to deliver Media courses to their students and provide the opportunity to work in a ‘live’ studio and gain experience of a working environment

We provide work experience placements to University students and all college /school students partnering with the MEBP (Medway Education Business Partnership) We also partner with CXK, Skillnet and Pinnacle People to encourage self-motivation and a back-to-work ethos

We also support the provision of musical tuition on the Island and are always keen to promote tutors and groups in our local area. If you are interested in learning a musical instrument please contact our reception on: 01795 664499
