There wasn’t an official light switch on this year in Sheerness, however, Big Fish Arts hosted a Lantern Parade and Sheerness Towns Team along with Sheerness Town Council, organised stalls, live entertainment and invited us along for their PA system and to play music in between entertainers. We also has the Rotary Club of Minster on Sea with their annual Santa Saunter, conga and carol singing, which we provided the music for. Always a fantastic time in Sheerness.
The Red Lion in Blue Town hosted a fun day and Red October 10k run in aid of many charities including cats protection. The Sheppey FM Roadshow team were invited along to keep up the morale of the runners and play some great music for all in attendance. It was fantastic fun and a success all round.
Queenborough Harbour Trust hosted their annual Classic Ships Festival and we had the privilege of having our roadshow out on the jetty, like a roadshow on the sea, we got to play some great sea shanty music, along with any other requests and meanwhile look at some amazing boats, we even got to see the brand new RNLI lifeboat on her first tour around the harbour. We look forward to more of the same next year.
Firefighters, in aid of the fire service, walked a distance of 13 miles in full fire gear in very hot weather too, and also completed 13 miles on a rowing machine in the carpark at Morrison’s Neats Court, Queenborough. The Sheppey FM roadshow team were in attendance to cheer them on and to draw in the crowd, a great day with lots of money raised for a great cause.
Every year for the Sunset Seaside Stroll, as the beach behind the studio is the halfway point, we have volunteers on the promenade with a drinks stand to refresh the strollers and our roadshow team on the roof facing the beach, entertaining the strollers as they come past and offering them words of encouragement and support. It’s a fantastic event that always raises a lot for Cancer Research UK.
